Stheno Shirt

A Gorgon Shirt for a Sister

Alright, so this shirt isn’t really screen printed; after much experimentation and terror involving bleach, printing paper and wax, I used freezer paper for a stencil and screen printing quality paints. The image is placed on the lower left side of a fitted black shirt.

  1. I LOVE this! If you don’t mind my asking, what is the name of the paint material that you used and where do you get it? Did you have to iron something over it when you were done?

  2. I used Permaset Aqua Supercover – if you’re painting on a dark shirt, you need the opaque supercover. I got it at Opus, but I think Curry’s or Michael’s may have it. You should also be able to buy it online from Permaset. For the other screen-printing projects on this site I also used Versatex. For both types of paint, I covered the image (when dry) with parchment paper and then ironed it for a few minutes on high. The paint bottles have instructions on how to set the paint, but that’s what I do (some people I know toss them in the dryer or oven!). Hope that helps.
